Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the quick descending corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
