Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising partnership that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A strange confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations resonate through the darkness." The plot presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine cult.
The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana together with multiple items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's latest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
